12U Greenville

This weekend we had the privilege of hanging out in Greenville, AGAIN! This time we didn't come home with a trophy.

Weather wasn't as bad as last weekend but it was still pretty hot and dry.  Saturday was extremely humid.  Sunday was a dry heat.

Saturday the girls played 3 games.  The first two were UGLY!

Guess I should start off by saying our #1 pitcher was not at this tournament! That said, Emily was the #1pitcher in this tournament!

Emily was put in the first game as a closer. Coach didn't want to start her because Emily was needed for two more games. Emily did okay but the team was in the hole pretty deep so it was hard for her to get them out of the hole!

Em pitched the entire second game (6 innings or 1 hour 30 minutes). She did okay but it was so stinking hot and the sun was beating on the fields.  We didn't stand a chance.

The girls played much better the last game of Saturday.  Emily was brought in as a closer and did a good job at keeping the score down.  Still lost.

Sunday was the first day of bracket play.  Ended up playing the same team we played in the 3rd game yesterday.  Emily pitched the game of her life!!!  She did amazing!  I am the first one to critique her pitching when it isn't good, but I am also the first one to praise it and today I am praising.  I couldn't be more proud of her.

Team still lost but it wasn't without a fight!  Proud of the girls for toughing out the heat and proud of my girl for giving it her all!

Now, if we could only get her to hit the ball!!!

  1. Congrats! That heat certainly makes it difficult to do just about anything outside. At least it's equal and the other team has to deal with it too! I hope by now you have treated yourself to one of those huge umbrella things...they will save your life with all the ball you watch. You can fit a ton of people under them and we have even placed the poles through the fence and covered the dug-out with one!
