Today was another hot day which makes a perfect day for a Slip n' Slide.

After our adventure to find the "perfect" sock monkey, we came home and chased fireflies.

(I am well aware Em's outfit isn't color coordinated! She changed when we got home)

Hottest game yet

Emily's team played one of the hottest games of the season this past Thursday. The weather was hot and humid and the sun was shining bright.

Emily has been having problems hitting the ball this season so we resorted to bribing her. We told her if she swung and hit the ball in her game, we would buy her a sock monkey! Low and behold, she hit the ball twice! Here is a picture of Emily on first base...


So tonight we are going to buy her one of these...

Now we have to think of bribes for future games!!!

Emily also had the opportunity to pitch after a 20 minute lightning delay. She was a little on the wild side but kept her head up and kept on trying!

Swimmy

No pictures today, just a quick story...

As you know we have a tadpole. As you also may know, we have two cats.

Early this morning, about 4:22 a.m. to be exact, Emily ran into our room this morning screaming. Max the cat was on top of Emily's dresser and found Swimmy. The habitat was knocked over, water everywhere, and Mr. Swimmy was flopping on the top of the dresser. Emily was trembling.

I got Swimmy in some water and got the mess cleaned up. Then couldn't fall back to sleep. Ugh.
Tonight Swimmy isn't doing to well. Not sure if he is exhausted from the trauma or if he was out of the water a little too long.

I can't let anything happen to this tadpole. Too many kids are counting on us having a frog when school starts. Oh the pressure.

Thank you for coming to all my games while I was growing up, even if you knew I would be sitting the bench.

Thank you for taking us to Friday night football games and sitting in the cold and rain while we were running around with our friends.

Thank you for everything you have done for Ron, the girls and me. We treasure everything you have made for us. It is nice to have hand made nice wood items that we know will last and was built with love.

Summer Fun

Today was a much needed day of doing NOTHING that required leaving our house! I have learned to treasure these type of days!

The weather was hot and humid so we filled up some balloons with water and had some fun!

The best activity with the balloons...hitting them with a fat plastic bat.

Once all the balloons were popped and the broken pieces picked up out of the yard, we broke out the sprinkler. Mainly to water my tomato plants and peppers but also for the girls!

No real reason

I have no real reason for this post other than to show you what Miss Megan was doing while we were cooking dinner tonight. Must have had a busy day today!


Oh, one other reason. We heard the first sounds of summer as we were cleaning up after dinner. The ice cream truck blaring Beethoven's Fur Elise all over the neighborhood! We waited outside for about 10 minutes waiting for the truck to come around. Ice cream truck prices have really gone up over the years. The girls were thrilled they were allowed to get something from the truck.

One more thing...if you were an ice cream truck driver, would you be smoking a cigarette as you are serving ice cream to children?!?!?! I smell like smoke from standing there with the girls. Ugh.

Festival Day Two

Today was day two of the festival! The four of us worked in Fun City which is where the kid games were. It was our first time volunteering and we all had a ton of fun. We will be doing it again next year!

The highlight of Megan's day was seeing her first grade teacher riding the Merry-Go-Round in her WEDDING DRESS! The wedding party was coming out of the church as we arrived to work (Lucky us). The teacher waved at Megan and Megan beamed! We played annoying spectator and watched the bride and groom pose for pictures with the rest of the wedding party! For the privacy of the bride and groom, I will not post any of the pictures I took!!! Congratulations to the Newlyweds!!! :)

Festival Day #1

Friday night was a perfect weather night to go to the church festival! Here are a few picture highlights!

The girls wanted me to ride the "Throw-up" Dragons with them
because they don't like to spin a lot and I would keep them safe!

Megan was looking forward to riding the rock and roll roller coaster, until the ride started. She cried and cried and cried more. I prayed she wouldn't hurl like she did in Grandma's car over Easter weekend! When they stopped us to go backwards, I was able to get the workers attention and we were able to get off. I have to admit I wasn't too upset as I was a little sea sick! Don't know if it was all the ride or the energy exerted from sending the festival workers telepathic messages!

Softball/T-ball

Both girls had games today!

Emily's team lost to a Tipp City team by 1 point. Emily pitched today. We had a feeling Em used all her beginners luck facing Northmont last week and unfortunately she did. :( She couldn't not find her groove. We kept cheering her on but I could tell by the look on her face she just wanted to run off the field and cry. I wanted to cry for her. I feel bad writing about this but I have to type the bad along with the good, right? We are proud of Em for getting out and pitching and keeping her head up!

If you ask Megan, she will tell you her team won! Score is not kept in T-ball and every player gets to bat every inning!!! Megan made a few good plays at first base.
