Celebrating 12

Since we didn't have a birthday party for Emily last year (oops) we knew we had to get one in this year.  We managed to have her party in the same month in which she was born, BONUS!

Meg and her friend played badmitton most of the day.

Forgot to order a cake so we bought this last minute.  Very cute!

Homecoming Parade

Just realized I didn't post pics from the VBHS homecoming parade (9/23/11).

Little bit of background...Both of my girls play for the Future Lady Aviators which is a select basketball team.  FLA is a non-profit organization.

Every year some of the girls from the prior FLA season walk in the parade carrying a banner to promote the organization and to get the name out in the community.

About a week before the parade I emailed the President of FLA asking if the girls were going to be in the parade.  Somehow through the power of email the President read "I will be more than happy to organize the girls and walk with them in the parade".

The President was nice enough to send out the first email then I took over with the rest.  We ended up with quite a few girls but they were disappointed when they found out they had to walk instead of ride in the back of a truck!  We were lucky enough to walk behind the Vantasia dance team so the girls were able to boogie down the street which was a lot of fun!

Had to throw this in...Meg and Gracie are both in 4th grade.  Look at difference!

Annual trip to Fulton Farms and Foy's!

We took advantage of the girls not having school today and did our annual fall trip to Fulton Farms and Foy's.  We stocked up on our pumpkins for the season.  We also bought smaller pumpkins for Emily and her friends to decorate at Emily's birthday party next weekend.

I also purchased a spaghetti squash.  I have heard so many good things about it and heard it was yummy so decided to finally try it.  It was OK.  I don't think I baked it right.  I ended up throwing it away but I will get another one to prepare in a different way.  I am impressed I tried it because as you all know, I am not big on trying new things (yes, worse than a kid)!

Soon she will be too tall for the sign

Emily too!

Isn't he cute?

The Cool Bus!

Meg looks like she is smoking!

I bought them wax lips at the Foy's variety store.  They were NOT a hit.

We ate at the Rock and Roll Diner and it was yummy as usual!

Emily turned 12!

Yesterday was my 12-year Mommy anniversary!  Hard to believe Emily is 12!

Emily requested Lee Anne's famous Cheeseburger Soup for her birthday dinner!  It is the first time either one of my kids have requested something like that for their dinner.  For years I have been worried that I would never have a "signature" meal that my girls would request and look forward to!  That has changed!  Yay!

Her day started out good.  I requested a local radio station to announce her birthday around 7:30 a.m. which happens to be the time I drive her to school!

After school she had some soup and she played outside since the weather was so beautiful!  She helped me bake her birthday cupcakes (I ran out of time during the day).  Then when Ron got home from work she was able to open her presents!

Long weekend...

Last week (September 15-18) I flew to New Jersey to visit my aunt and grandma.  My grandma is 97 and had to move in to a nursing home about 8 weeks ago.

I stayed with my Aunt Toots and was treated like a princess the entire time!  We spent most of our day at the nursing home with Grandma and when we left the home we had a nice dinner then went back to the house to relax and catch up and watch some tv.

On Saturday, Aunt Toots treated me to a day in NYC!   There was a street fair which was full of all kinds of vendors. We walked around, ate lunch and then we saw Priscilla Queen of the Desert which was hysterical! It was a very fun and relaxing day!

I flew back on Sunday just in time to put my "mom hat" back on and get to a parent meeting for Emily's softball team!!!

It was a wonderful trip and I am glad I was able to spend time with my Aunt and Grandma!
