Opening Day 2011!

Today was opening day for the VPR softball/baseball teams!

Megan's team only had about 5 practices and Emily's had less because of record rainfall in the month of April!

I checked the weather forecast 3-4 times a day every day this week to make sure the weather was going to hold out for us. A little obsessive?  Maybe! Imagine our surprise when we woke up to the SUN today! Woot woot!

Megan's day started out with pictures at 9:30, quick trip to the store to buy sunglasses, quick concession stand hot dog, then it was GAME TIME!

Megan  batted third and had a double at her first at bat! I can't remember what she did the other times but I know she got on base for every at bat. I have no pictures of her batting because I was too busy messing around with my silly camera and missed them!

The main position she played was 1st base! I could tell she was nervous the first few times the ball was thrown her way then she was able to shake off the jitters and played like a champ!!!

Lipo Technologies Storm won 9-8!

Emily didn't have a game today but has one this week!  Excited to see how she does with her pitching in a game situation!

BTW, got my opening day sun/wind burn on my face today!!!!

Carillon Historical Park

Today I was able to go on a field trip with Megan's class!  We went to Carillon Historical Park!

Carillon Historical Park houses so many neat things!  The original Wright Flyer III, the first automobile self-starter, the 1855 B&O (Grasshopper) steam locomotive, TWO of the original bicycles made by the Wright Brothers (only 5 left in existance).

The Dayton area is home to inventions such as the cash register, the automobile self starter, and of course the first airplane!

Replica building of the Wright Brothers bike shop!

We got to ride this little train!

Inside the bike shop...the bike at top of pic is one of the original bikes!

More Easter 2011

I had a post put together of lots of details but for some reason I am getting an error when I try to publish it to the blog from Windows Live Writer.  Not sure why I am having problems with Live Writer but have lost patience with it so here are some pics of dying eggs and the aftermath of the bunny's visit.

The bunny came to Chillicothe and hid eggs and the girls baskets!

And yes, the bunny visited Vandalia too!

Easter Weekend

It is a tradition for the girls and I to go to Chillicothe on Good Friday.  Either my dad will drive to Vandalia to get us or Ron will drive us half way and my dad will take us the rest of the way.  This year was no different.

On Friday we met my mom in town and we went shopping for Easter shoes and accessories for our dresses.  Then we went to Kroger to get the final supplies for Easter dinner.

Saturday the girls made applesauce and ice cream pies with my mom. Later that evening we dyed Easter eggs with my dad and brother (pictures to come in another post).

Sunday morning the girls woke up.  The Easter bunny did a good job at hiding all the Easter eggs and baskets!  Then we went to church!

I am going to be the short one in the family, we were all wearing flat shoes.  Yikes!
