Basketball Pics

I was finally able to scan the girls individual and team basketball pictures.  Not the best quality of scanning but I wanted to get them posted sooner than later.

Yes, my girls are two of the tallest!  My brother wants them to be good in high school so they can be the Twin Towers of Vandalia!

A sad ending...

to a Cinderella season.

Let me start by saying this year is the first year in a loonnnggggg time I have actually paid attention to the NFL.

I grew up a huge Bengals fan and could tell you anything about any of the players. As time went on, I lost track of football but knew I would some day follow it again.  About 10 years ago, I decided when the time came to again follow the game, I didn't want to conform to everyone else in Ohio and be a Bengals, Browns, or Steelers fan, I knew I wanted to be a Jets fan!

It is almost impossible to find a Jets game to watch on TV in Ohio.  Every week I followed the games on the computer.  Imagine my excitement when the Jets made it to the playoffs and I was able to watch them on TV!  I made sure I got all my housework and errands done before the games came on and plopped in my chair to watch my Jets win...up until today.

Something else impossible to find in Ohio is any kind of Jets gear.  This past Friday Ron found Jets plates and napkins at Walmart!  I was so stinking excited!!!

This morning the girls decorated two of the plates for me to hang up at work.

The girls and Ron baked a Jets are going to the Superbowl cake...

It turned in to a Jets lost cake.  We had a great season!  Made it to the top 4 out of 32 with a Rookie quarterback!  Can't wait to see what next season brings!

Here are a few pictures I found online of the Empire State Building lit up with green and white lights for the Jets.  What an awesome site this is.

Megan Instructional Basketball

This year Megan is doing instructional basketball through the city Parks and Rec. department.  The Butler boys high school are the instructors for the program.

The kids break up into several different groups and each group goes to a different station.  The stations are basic drills such as running and dribbling, lay-ups, one on one, etc.  After each group finishes each station they play a 3 minute game to get the kids used to the concept of basketball.

The first two weeks it was rough getting Megan to be excited (even though she is the one who wanted to be signed up).  Megan didn't know what to expect and didn't want to wake up early and get out of her warm bed to go.  We stuck to our guns and forced her to get dressed and participate.  First week she sat on the bleachers and watched while pouting.

Last week we got to the gym a few minutes early and Megan and I shot some baskets together. Meg participated in the instructional part but not the games at the end.

This week Meg set her alarm to get up early and did not put up a fight!!!  We left for the gym early and shot some baskets before everyone else arrived.  Megan was much more relaxed during the drills and did a great job!  She still didn't do the games at the end but that's ok since she did the drills.  Maybe next week!

Dribbling with TWO balls!

Random January 2010!

Happy New Year to you all!

2010 has started out to be as busy as 2009 ended.  Both girls went back to school without a hitch, basketball is in full swing for both of them, dance started back up, etc.

The weather has been extremely bitter so far this year.  We have woken up several mornings to beautiful trees covered in frozen fog.  These pictures don't do the trees justice but you get the idea.

Emily had her first basketball game yesterday.  The team has only had 2-3 practices so we didn't know how the girls would do in a "real" game atmosphere. Out of 8 girls, only 3 have ever played BB. For the most part they pulled together and played a little better than expected.  As the season goes on, the girls will get more familiar with the flow of the game and will improve.

They lost the game 20-10.  Emily shot more than ever and scored two baskets!  I thought it was cute because all the other girls would always look for Em so they could throw her the ball.  I think they look up to her since she has played before (only one rec season) and because she is tall.

I am anxious to see how the season progresses and how Em' skills progress throughout the season!

I would like to add I LOVE the new Blogger and the ease of uploading and placing pictures on my blog.  I do not love that there is no spell check.  I will apologize now for all my spelling and grammatical errors!
