The Hunger Games

Earlier in the school year Emily started reading this book called The Hunger Games.  She didn't stop talking about it and gave daily updates on what she had read.  Honestly, I had no clue what the book was about nor did I have any interest in finding out.

Over Christmas break Emily talked me in to reading the first book of the trilogy.  I was HOOKED!  I read all three books in about 4 days.  Of course nothing got done around the house while I was so wrapped up in the books.  They were sooooo good!

Emily heard there was a 12:01 viewing of the movie on March 23rd.  She begged and begged me to let her go.  After much deliberations I decided to go for it.  After all, there may never be another opportunity to share an experience like this again.  A group of her friends was also going to the same viewing.

As the date got closer, Emily's excitement built up and I questioned myself wondering what the heck was I thinking?!?!  I was worried I wouldn't be able to stay awake for so long.

Sooo, after school/work on the 22nd Emily and I skipped Megan's softball practice.  We ran to the dollar store and stocked up on candy. Once home we watched recorded shows with various cast members of the movie.  The later it go to be, the more my anxiety was kicking up because I was getting really tired!

We left our house at 9:30.  Once at the theater we found our seats with the rest of our group.  It was ONLY 10:00!  All the girls were so excited and talking a mile a minute.  All the mom's were buying soda and popcorn for the girls.

It was kind of fun watching all the different people walk into our theater.  Some people were dressed like the characters.

As midnight got closer, I started fading.  Really worried I wasn't to make it.  I stuffed my face with some extra buttered popcorn and candy. By the time the previews started I had eaten so much junk I thought I was going to be sick!

Emily was THRILLED with the movie.  She thought it was the best movie ever.  I was a tad disappointed but it was still a very good movie...and yes, I stayed awake through the whole thing!  Sharing the experience with Emily, her friends, and their moms was something I will never forget!

And yes, Emily got up and went to school the next morning!  Thank goodness for half days!

The girls entertaining themselves before the movie!

Em and me...ignore the funky hair, don't think it looked like that when I left the house!  LOL
