The girls are at my parents this weekend celebrating Christmas! My parents bought the girls tickets to see Disney on Ice for Christmas and tomorrow is the big show!
I took advantage of the time without the kids and did a thorough cleaning of Megan's room. By thorough I mean, cleaning out drawers and taking out the items she doesn't wear and putting some misc. stuffed animals in a bag for the "attic" AKA. Goodwill pile!
While in Megan's room, I noticed her fish was not swimming around her tank it was laying at the bottom and didn't move.
A little background...Megan won Rainbow at the school festival back in early October. She was thrilled. Megan used her own money to buy a tank for her new fish. She always turns the light on the tank when she gets home and makes sure it is off when we leave the house.
This situation can go one of two ways...
1. Megan will be devastated since Rainbow is her first fish and her first fish death. Emily has had many die over the years but it is different when it is your own.
2. Megan will be sad for about 2 seconds and move on.
Rainbow was in our family for almost 5 months. Not bad for a fish.
The whole situation reminds me of an episode of The Cosby Show. It is about 5 minutes long but worth it if you are/were a fan of The Cosby Show.
Ron and I went out to dinner tonight and stopped by the pet store. We found a beautiful dark blue Beta Fish. He is already in the tank. We think having a new one will make Megan happy!
We will miss you Rainbow. Welcome to the family "Blue".
Aw, poor Megan. Rest in swirling, Cloroxy peace, Rainbow.
ReplyDeleteLove the Cosby Show! Love the clip....
ReplyDeleteSorry about the fish! My guess is she will be upset simply because she wasn't there. Keep me posted.
The one and only fish we had lived for three years. I was the only one that looked at it. I rememeber REALLY wanting that fish to pass into fish heaven. I hated cleaning that tank every week.
We are thinking it would have been worse to have her see it dead. I don't know. They both have little aquariums with filters and all. The Beta's don't have to eat every day so we are good. The funny part is Emily's was looking funny last night. He seems ok now. I will post a quick post when they get home tonight.
